DR. AL L. HIBBERT'S BIO

Family History
Al L Hibbert was born in St. Andrew Jamaica, West Indies. He attended the Westphalia all age School, and the Trench Town high school. He is the fifth of eight siblings, four brothers and four sisters.  His family tree consists of Pastors, Authors, Politicians, Military, Professional/Chaplains, Law enforcement, Entrepreneurs Civil Services Leaders, Counselors, and Christian employers/employee. In addition to his family background, his personal involvement is in, Pastoral ministry, Professional counseling, designer, and employments in the corporate world. This exposure has helped him to develop a passion for leadership, and has molded him to become a strong, passionate leader.

Dr. Hibbert gives all credit to the Lord for placing an early call upon his life, and to his parents and mentors who guided him along the pathway to his destiny.
Al Hibbert was brought up in a strong Christian home; his father was a pastor, farmer, shoe maker, and police officer. His mother was a devoted manager of home affairs. As a pastor's kid he had a close-up view of professing Christians and has seen both sides of good and bad.  At age twenty he accepted the call of God on his life. Like many young Christians he struggled not being able to differentiate between religion and Christianity.  In his search for meaning he turned to the political world where he had the opportunity to meet and associate with great political leaders.  This choice only brought more confusing questions, as it conflicted with the teachings and beliefs he received from his early academic and Christian educators.  In 1970 he had another call from God which was much different from the first call in 1968.  God immediately placed him under a Christian mentor, the late Rev Edwin Thomas, who began to pour into him and involve him in ministry on a wider scale.  In 1972 he married the love of his life Iona, to whom he is still married today. The union produced three sons.

Al Hibbert resorted to further studies and recognized that many Christians did not portray and exhibit the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.  It was at this juncture he felt the need to become a part of the answer instead of being a part of the problem.  His passion was always to develop an independent God centered ministry to train and help Christians return to the teachings of Jesus Christ and launch mass evangelism to save our endangered generation who must be taught to be the light that God intended them to be and to prepare them for His return.

Activities over the past few years
In 1980 Al Hibbert and his family relocated to the United States where he worked as a clerk in the medical field and later accepted a managerial position  the hotel industry. Knowing that there was a shepherding call on his life, in 1982 The Holiness Christian Church was born in Yonkers NY, where he pastored for seventeen years.  He acquired two properties in Yonkers.  The first property was transformed from a drug house to a place of worship. Dr Hibbert received much recognition from the city of Yonkers. The second property was purchased at a cost of $600,000 and was renovated to be used as a church and educational facility.  In 1995 he started the New York Christian Counseling & Training Center in Yonkers, where he operated a private practice and a training center to equip those who had a calling on their life to counsel, a Bible Institute was also launched to prepare future leaders.
In 1999 the city of Yonkers purchased the church property as part of the city's waterfront development project.  The church was then merged with another local congregation, proceeds from the sale were used to purchase the church building they were renting...In 2000 Dr Hibbert turned the leadership of the church over to the other pastor and relocated to Atlanta Georgia.

Setback;
While pasturing in East Point GA, in January 2006 they were preparing to launch a special community help program.  The building in East Point was suddenly destroyed by fire.  At that time it seemed like all hopes and visions of reaching and rendering help to the needs of the community was shattered.  Because of his determination to fulfill the mission of helping families, he continued the project of reaching out to those in need.
